FAQ – English Version
Here’s a quick overview of frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question here, just get in touch – we’re happy to help!
Who are you?
We are a diverse team with different professional backgrounds, including social and educational disciplines, as well as our own experience in the LGBTIQ* community. Different gender identities and sexual orientations are represented in the team. We see our personal connections to the LGBTIQ* community as a valuable resource – both for our work and for the young people we support.
What exactly do you do on site?
At our location at Friedrich-Franz-Str. 11b, we offer young people an open space for encounters, exchanges, creativity, games and fun. With a wide range of leisure activities such as workshops, excursions and movie nights, we create a supportive community – especially for those who are in their coming-out phase.
Do you also have activities outside of Queer Base?
Yes! In the south of Berlin (Marienfelde, Mariendorf, Lichtenrade) we also create open spaces for encounters, exchange, creativity, games and fun through our mobile services. We also actively promote tolerance and diversity with the help of outreach projects and work closely with schools and other youth work organizations to impart knowledge about sexual and gender diversity.
What age groups are you for?
We cover the classic age range for youth social work. In other words, we welcome all children and young people between the ages of 12 and 27. We offer age-specific groups in order to cater to different needs in the best possible way. In addition, we usually work in teams of two so that we can respond individually to different age groups.
What do you have to do with the Evangelical Church District of Tempelhof-Schöneberg?
Queer Base is run by the Evangelical Church District of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, but is funded by the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Youth Welfare Office. This means that all our services are non-denominational and open to all young people – regardless of their cultural or spiritual background.
Do I have to be a member of the church to visit?
Nope! We are run by the Evangelical Church District of Tempelhof-Schöneberg, but our services are open to all young people – regardless of religion. Funding comes from the youth welfare office, so faith doesn’t play a role. We are there for everyone who is looking for a safe and open place!
What protection policy against sexualized violence do you have in place?
We currently use the protection policy of our provider and are working on developing our own concept. The protection policy can be viewed on our provider’s website ↗.
